GARBA TAWAGHAT





Garba Tawaghat Hydro Electric Project located in Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand state envisages utilization of the water of the river Kali (Sharda), for power generation on a run of river type development with proposed installation of 630 MW (3x210 MW) and an annual energy generation of 2629 MU with 95 % machine availability.

The dam site is approachable from Tanakpur-Tawaghat road at a distance of ±15 km from Tawaghat and ±275 km from Tanakpur. The nearest rail heads are located at Tanakpur & Kathgodam and nearest airport is located at Dehradun & Delhi.

Garba Tawaghat HE project is proposed on river Kali (Sharda) which forms international border between India and Nepal. 

Garba Tawaghat HE project was handed over to NHPC for Implementation, In pursuance to Implementation Agreement signed between NHPC and GoUK.

Implementation of project require consent of Govt. of Nepal in terms of Mahakali Treaty. NHPC is pursuing with MOP / MEA / MOJS for obtaining the consent.
