Overview
Commercial Aspects of NHPC

The commercial aspects are handled by the Commercial Division of NHPC, which is an important unit of the Corporate Centre. The main functions of the Commercial Division are as follows:
- Filing of tariff petitions / obtaining tariff approval for the operating power stations from CERC.
- If required, filing of review petitions / appeals in APTEL after the tariff order is issued by CERC.
- Providing comments on the draft CERC regulations / draft policies of MoP, GoI.
- Signing of Bulk Power Supply Agreements for the operating power stations and Power Purchase Agreements for upcoming NHPC power stations with various Bulk Power Consumers / prospective buyers.
- Raising energy bills, revenue realization, and reconciliation of accounts.
- Coordinating with the Ministry of Power, various Regional Power Committees (RPCs), Regional Load Dispatch Centres (RLDCs), SEBs (Discoms) / Union Territories, CERC, CEA, and other power sector utilities on commercial matters.
- Generation of various MIS reports related to commercial aspects to be sent to higher offices, MoP, CERC, CEA, etc.
- Inter-state trading of power across India.
