Billing

NHPC Limited has adopted a monthly billing cycle based on the Regional Energy Accounts issued by the respective Regional Power Committees, based on data provided by the Regional Load Dispatch Centre. Billing is done centrally at the Corporate Office on a monthly basis in accordance with the CERC Tariff regulations 2019 and as per the tariff notification issued by CERC for that particular power station from time to time.
Payments are received through most of the beneficiary DISCOMs through RTGS and from a few of the beneficiary DISCOMs through confirmed, revolving, irrevocable "Letters of Credit" opened by the beneficiaries in favour of NHPC Limited.
If the payments are not made by the beneficiaries within a period of 45 days from the date of presentation of the bill, late payment surcharge is levied as per the Electricity (Late Payment Surcharge and Related Matters) Rules, 2022. In case non-liquidation of dues beyond 75 days (i.e., Default trigger date) after presentation of bills, power supply to the beneficiary/ Discom is regulated as per the aforementioned rule. The beneficiaries/ Discoms are required to comply with all the provisions of the Electricity (Late Payment Surcharge and Related Matters) Rules, 2022 for continuous power supply to them.
