NHPC inks loan agreement of JPY 20 billion with Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC), Japan



Shri R.P. Goyal, CMD and Director (Finance), NHPC present during the Signing of loan agreement between NHPC and Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC), Japan on 28th March 2024. Shri Uttam Lal, Director (Personnel), NHPC and Shri R.K. Chaudhary, Director (Technical & Projects), NHPC alongwith Executive Director (Finance), NHPC and Shri Ryuta Suzuki, Director General, New Energy and Power Finance Department II, JBIC were also present on the occasion.
NHPC Limited, India’s premier hydro power utility has secured Foreign Currency Loan of JPY 20.00 Billion from Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC), Japan for implementation of renewable project including 300 MW Solar power Project, Bikaner being developed under CPSE 1000 MW Scheme. The loan agreement was signed by Executive Director (Finance), NHPC and Shri Ryuta Suzuki, Director General, New Energy and Power Finance Department II, JBIC in the presence of Shri R.P. Goyal, CMD and Director (Finance), Shri Uttam Lal, Director (Personnel) and Sh. R.K. Chaudhary, Director (Technical & Projects) at NHPC Corporate Office on 28th March 2024 .
This is a first kind of loan syndication by NHPC with JBIC for financing of renewable energy project. JBIC’s loan is co-financed with MUFG Bank Ltd., Japan and Bank of Yokohama Ltd., Japan.
The facility is extended under JBIC’s GREEN Operations (Global Action for Reconciling Economic growth and Environment Preservation) which ensures preservation of global environment.
