Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has laid the foundation stone for 50 MW Floating Solar Project in West Kallada, Keralam on 11.03.2026. The project is being set up by NHPC Limited, a leading Navratna CPSE, under the Solar Park Scheme of Ministry of New and Renewable Energy), Govt. of India with total investment of over ₹ 260 Crore. Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone and inaugurated multiple infrastructure projects worth over ₹10,800 crore in Ernakulam, Keralam, as part of the government’s push for a “Viksit Keralam - Viksit Bharat”.

Hon’ble Prime Minister in his speech said the project will contribute to India's clean energy goals and reinforce the country’s commitment towards a sustainable and low-carbon energy future. Hon’ble Prime Minister lauded the country’s performance in becoming one among the top ten solar energy-producing nations. Further in his speech, Hon’ble Prime Minister reiterated the need for more floating solar projects in the state of Keralam.

The function was graced by Shri Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, Hon’ble Governor of Keralam, Shri Suresh Gopi, Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Petroleum & Natural Gas & Tourism, Govt. of India and Shri George Kurian, Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Minority Affairs and Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Govt. of India.
