50MW Solar Power Plant is constructed in 250 acres of land at two locations at Kullapuram & Viralipatti villages and Jeyamangalam village of Periyakulam Taluk in Theni and Dindigul District. The plant was commissioned on 23.03.2018. The power potential of 50MW is harnessed through Solar photovoltaic crystalline technology with minimum annual generation of 105.96 MU at a Capacity Utilization Factor of > 19%. The major project components include DC field, String Monitoring Boxes(SMB), Inverter rooms, Inverter Duty Transformers, Control rooms, 33 KV transmission line, Switch yard, Meteorological station, SCADA, CCTV surveillance etc. DC field consists of around 1.71 lakh Multicrystalline Photovoltaic panels (of capacity ranging from 315Wp to 330Wp) erected on 176 trackers which are operated by actuators with auto tracking of sun angle (pre-programmed). String Monitoring Boxes (SMB) installed in the DC field comprising 12 strings/rows in one SMB and the DC power generated from the PV panels is transmitted to Inverter rooms through SMBs. There are 40 inverters with the rating of 1.25MW each installed in 20 inverter rooms. The DC power received at inverter is stepped-up to 33 KV AC power which is further stepped-up and connected to 110KV grid network through 33/110KV switchyard. The power from the Project is evacuated through 3.305 KM, 110KV transmission line to Eluvanampatti TNEB sub-station. The project was constructed through EPC contract executed by L&T Construction at a cost of Rs. 273.68 crores (pre GST). Tamilnadu state is the beneficiary of this 50MW Solar Power Station.
