NHPC celebrated the 77th Republic Day of India on 26th January 2026 at its all locations with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervour. The celebrations commenced with the unfurling of the National Flag by Shri Bhupender Gupta, CMD, NHPC followed by the singing of the National Anthem and mass singing of Vande Mataram at NHPC Residential Colony, Faridabad. The occasion was graced by the presence of Shri Uttam Lal, Director (Personnel) and Shri Mahesh Kumar Sharma, Director (Finance) alongwith senior officers, employees and their family members.
 
Addressing the occasion, Shri Bhupender Gupta extended his greetings to the entire NHPC family on Republic Day. Shri Gupta reiterated NHPC’s commitment to India’s constitutional values and its vital role in strengthening the nation’s energy security through clean, green and renewable power. The address highlighted the spirit of the Indian Constitution as a guiding force for justice, equality and inclusive development, while paying tribute to freedom fighters, soldiers and the framers of the Constitution led by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.
 
CMD, NHPC said “NHPC has emerged as a key pillar of India’s power sector, contributing nearly 17% of the country’s hydropower capacity and is executing more than half of the under-construction hydropower projects in India. With a total installed capacity of 8,582.90 MW across hydropower, solar and wind energy, NHPC continues to expand its portfolio of zero-emission energy sources, especially in remote and border regions, fostering regional development and social upliftment.” He acknowledged the dedication of NHPC employees working in challenging terrains and reaffirming the organization’s commitment to transparency, safety, quality, sustainability and timely project execution in support of the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s Panchamrit goals and the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
 
The celebrations featured a vibrant cultural programme showcasing patriotic songs and dances performed by NHPC family and Team Revolution Group, which captivated the audience and added colour to the occasion. The Republic Day programme was also telecast live across all NHPC locations in the country through webcasting.
