Shri Manohar Lal, Hon’ble Union Minister for Power, Housing & Urban Affairs visits project of NHPC & CVPPPL
During his two-day visit to Jammu & Kashmir, Shri Manohar Lal, Hon’ble Union Minister for Power, Housing & Urban Affairs; Shri Pankaj Agarwal, Secretary (Power), Ministry of Power, Government of India and Shri Bhupender Gupta, Chairman & Managing Director (CMD), NHPC, arrived at NHPC’s Dulhasti Power Station, Kishtwar in the evening of 04.01.2026. On arrival at the power station, both dignitaries i.e. Hon’ble Minister and Secretary (Power) were welcomed by Shri Sanjay Kumar Singh, Director (Projects), NHPC and Shri Ramesh Mukhia, Managing Director, Chenab Valley Power Projects Ltd. (CVPPPL) in the presence of senior officers from NHPC and CVPPPL.
On 05.01.2026, a Guard of Honour was presented by the CISF unit to the Hon’ble Minister. Thereafter, the Hon’ble Minister along with all distinguished guests planted saplings at the Dulhasti project area, reaffirming NHPC’s strong commitment to environmental protection. Subsequently, Hon’ble Minister inspected all three projects of CVPPPL, i.e. Pakal Dul (1000 MW), Kiru (624 MW) and Kwar (540 MW) and held a review meeting with the project heads and contractors. CMD, NHPC briefed Hon’ble Minister about various aspects of the three under-construction projects. After that, Hon’ble Minister directed that the Pakal Dul and Kiru projects be commissioned by December 2026 and the Kwar project by March 2028. He also met with local people and workers at the various project sites and patiently listened to their concerns. After reviewing all the work, Hon’ble Minister praised the personnel and workers for their dedication and hard work in challenging conditions and boosted their morale.
