Shri S.P. Sen has been appointed as Director (Technical) of National Hydroelectric Power Corporation Limited (NHPC), a scheduled 'A' enterprise of Government of India.  Prior to this Shri Sen was Executive Director In-charge (Design & Engineering) in NHPC. 

Born on 4th December 1948, Shri S.P. Sen did his Masters degree in Civil Engineering with specialisation in advanced Hydraulics from B.E. College, West Bengal.  He has also obtained a post graduate certificate on Hydrology from East China college of Hydraulics Engineering, Nanjing. 

Shri Sen began his career as Assistant Engineer in Irrigation and Waterways Department, Government of West Bengal and was in-charge of major flood control project and subsequently worked in River Research Institute for Hydraulic studies. 

An eminent Civil Engineering professional, Shri Sen joined NHPC as Assistant Manager in 1980 and held important positions at Corporate Office and Projects in various capacities.  He has over 32 years of rich and varied experience to his credit.  An expert in the area of field of Design, Engineering and Construction Management of Hydroelectric Projects, Shri Sen has designed many Hydroelectric Projects, Hydraulic structures and has accomplished detailed study of many projects being implemented by NHPC under his leadership. Design and Engineering Division of NHPC has introduced frontier technologies in the field of Hydroelectric Projects and also the concept of constructability of design. He is member of two technical committees of ICOLD (International Commission on Large Dams), the highest body of the world of dams and in one committee he is Vice-Chairman.
