Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed between NHPC Limited, BSNL & MTNL

NHPC Limited, India’s premier hydropower utility and a Scheduled ‘A’ Mini Ratna Enterprise of the Government of India has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Indian telecom majors BSNL and MTNL on 24.7.2008. The MOU assures a ‘Preferred Customer Status’ for NHPC establishes a cooperative and collaborative relationship amongst NHPC, BSNL and MTNL with the prime objective of serving the communications requirements of NHPC throughout the country. The MOU was signed at NHPC’s Corporate Office by Shri Rajendra Singh, Director (C&M) BSNL, Shri S.P. Pachauri, Director (HR) MTNL and Shri. S.K. Chaturvedi, Director (Personnel) NHPC Limited in the presence of other senior officers from BSNL, MTNL and NHPC.  

 

The MOU is designed to meet the vast and varied communication needs of NHPC Limited which has large presence in North, East and North-Eastern states touching the remotest corners of the country. The MOU will enable BSNL and MTNL to provide NHPC the full gamut of telecom services, including basic telephone, FWT (Fixed Wireless Terminals), Countrywide GSM services, Countrywide bandwidth provisioning  and single  point of contact, Fibre termination, VSAT Services, ISDN Connections, Exploring System Integration Solutions, Countrywide bandwidth offers through leased lines, Preferred value added services, Providing Internet Services, MPLS-VPN Services and various services on ‘most preferred client basis’. The MOU would enable NHPC to enjoy facilities as preferential volume discounts across the country, simplifications of procedures for availing facilities and billing process, immediate service activation on receipt of request from NHPC and Single window concept. The MOU will be highly beneficial to NHPC as it would not only enable considerable savings on expenditure but also would lead to substantial development of its existing communications facilities.
